It’s the TV series that makes even the most jaw-dropping, crazy act on Britain’s Got Talent seem downright tame.
New Watch series World’s Most Talented travels the globe to unearth the eccentrics and obsessives with special “skills” that take the breath away.
They include a man whose claim to fame is slicing a coconut in half while it’s balanced on his wife’s throat.
Then there’s a Kung Fu master who can penetrate a coconut with a finger.
And let’s not forget a man who breaks bats with his bare hands.
If it sounds, well, pretty darn perilous, you won’t find any argument from Laura Jackson, who co-hosts the series with actor and presenter David Brain.
“I went to Malaysia to meet the guy called the Snake Prince,” Laura, 27, tells The Weekly News.
“He keeps snakes with his family, despite the fact that his father actually died after being bitten by a King Cobra.
“They’re in the house and he lets the kids play with them while watching telly.
“It’s just weird, and he practises what isn’t so much an act, more like an hypnotic dance.”
So, just how close did Laura have to get to his reptilian charges?
“I was just as far away as I could possibly be,” she laughs nervously.
“I hate, hate, hate snakes so I didn’t enjoy it at all. But I just had to get on with it.”
Filming also took Laura to Germany, Japan and Romania.
The latter was to see a daredevil stuntman who rides his unicycle in really obscure places.
In this instance, that was on a ledge at the edge of a dam with a deadly drop on one side.
“I was looking at him thinking: ‘You are absolutely crazy,’” admits Laura.
“The ledge was just wider than the palm of your hand. His girlfriend was there and it was just awful because it was so windy.
“He was saying he didn’t think he could do it and then he just got on his unicycle and went for it.
“There was a bit of me that thought he could die doing this. When you looked down the drop, there was a car that looked about the size of a pea.”
Laura knows all about Britain’s Got Talent, as she covers all the latest behind-the-scenes gossip online.
She’s also been a fashion expert on This Morning and has most recently been hosting ITV2’s Take Me Out The Gossip, alongside Strictly finalist, Mark Wright.
“I love Britain’s Got Talent, but the thing about this series is that you are seeing the people in their own environment, rather than a studio, and understand a bit more why they do it,” adds Laura.
World’s Most Talented is on Watch, on Tuesdays at 9pm.
