Last week I went to a local gym here in Hollywood.
I know what you’re thinking – and it’s probably not. “But how can one improve on perfection?”
It’s likely more along the lines of how not even a gym could help a wee Glaswegian guy from Knightswood like me.
But last week I had the chance to work out with trainer to the stars Gunnar Petersen.
You should see the testimony A-list celebs have given Gunnar.
He’s worked with the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez called him the best trainer she’d ever had, and Pete Sampras sent him a signed racquet saying: “Thanks for extending my career”.
Sly Stallone, who knows a thing or two about muscles, was so impressed with Gunnar he cast him in a Rocky film.
The gym’s an intimidating place for me. There were more rock-hard buns than a fire sale at Greggs.
I knew before we started that Gunnar would suit me as a personal trainer.
After having the Kardashians and J-Lo as clients he’s obviously well used to working with big bahookies like myself!
I asked Gunnar if he could get me in shape to turn out for Partick Thistle by the end of the season.
He’s good, but not THAT good unfortunately.
One of the keys to a great workout apparently is to not ruin it with a big slice of cake afterwards.
Luckily I’m not in Scotland and can’t get my hands on a slab of millionaire’s shortbread.
Speaking of which, did you see the story of the Billion Dollar Wedding last week?
A Russian oligarch spent an eye-watering amount on his son’s nuptials, which included appearances by Sting, J-Lo and Enrique Iglesias.
The cake cost around £100,000, was nine tiers tall – taller than the groom.
Pffft, so what? My cake was taller than me as well. Alright – mine only had two tiers, but still.
Next week, we’ll have the man who can blow his horn like no other…Hornblower himself, Ioan Gruffudd.
He popped over for a cuppa and to tell me the secrets from his hit show, Forever – and just what he hid in the dead bodies!
