Jobless and overweight duo Janice and Amber Manzur are a disgrace

Disgraceful mother and daughter need reality check.

Am I the only one flummoxed by the grossly overweight, jobless mother and daughter duo claiming benefits and appearing rather proud of the fact they have no intention of ever doing a day’s work?

Janice and Amber Manzur, from Kirkcaldy in Fife, think they are entitled to handouts and seem to have absolutely no intention of losing weight and finding work.

They apparently think the rest of us owe them a living and should be financing their appallingly unhealthy lifestyle to the tune of an eye-watering £33,000 a year.

How is that even possible when people in genuine need are having their benefits cut?

Welfare used to be for people who are really struggling and I am very happy to pay my taxes to assist those in trouble.

Lots of people find themselves out of work in these tough economic times or unable to earn a living through illness or a disability. They need a safety net, especially if they have children, and should never be demonised.

We could all find ourselves in a similar situation through sheer bad luck or judgement.

I do, however, draw the line at people stubbornly refusing to work and deciding that being on benefits is simply an alternative lifestyle.

It was never intended for that purpose. These two are a disgrace. They claim they are too fat to work.

Janice, who tips the scales at 26 stone, bleats that her 17 stone daughter Amber was “born to be fat” and that “diets are a waste of time”.

She wants her daughter to be fat and happy on the dole rather than thin and depressed working.

I honestly think this amounts to a form of child abuse. Mother and daughter have been given matching disability scooters as they claim to be too fat to walk, never mind gain employment.

Poor Amber needs to start putting one foot in front of another and initially go for gentle strolls, building up to brisk walks.

Her mother has to stop feeding her deep-fried lard and make pots of soup from fresh vegetables (cheap and healthy) and some proper home-cooked meals.

Also, those responsible for giving them those expensive scooters and thus enabling them not to get up and walk really need to get a grip and use their funding to help people who are legitimately ill or in need.

These two aren’t just cheating tax-payers. They are also taking money from far more deserving people who genuinely cannot help themselves.
