Tributes have been paid to a former Miss Scotland who has died aged just 45.
Sarah MacRae died from pneumonia 22 years after being crowned the country’s most beautiful woman.
Last night close friend Sonia Scott, who lived with Sarah when they were both Scotland’s catwalk queens in the 1990s, spoke fondly of the beauty.
She said: “Sarah was absolutely stunning, truly gorgeous and so much fun. Every time I think about her passing it makes me so sad.
“I’m heartbroken at the loss of such a vulnerable person. Following her success, it might just have been difficult for her to cope after.”
Born in Dingwall, Sarah was a 23-year-old receptionist at former Rangers owner David Murray’s Murray International in Edinburgh when she was named Miss Scotland in 1993.
The title turned her life on its head, as she went on to compete in both Miss Great Britain and Miss Europe.
Her brother Keith said: “Sarah died in hospital and it has come as a great shock to her family and friends. What we are trying to do is to give Sarah a quiet and dignified funeral.”
Her funeral will be held near her home town of Conon Bridge in the Highlands on Thursday.
