World Asteroid Day (NASA)
Each year, people around the world come together to learn about asteroids today, 30th June, on the anniversary of the largest impact in recent history; the 1908 Tunguska event in Siberia.
The Sunday Post spoke to Dr Benjamin Cohen from The University of Glasgow about what asteroids are and how to tell if a piece of stone in your back garden is actually a rock from space!
Dr Cohen is a a post-doctoral research associate at the university’s School of Geographical & Earth Sciences and he also works at SUERC (Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre).
