Fellow Doctor Who fans reckon the new TARDIS inhabitant has Scot the lot!
“Everybody is so excited that Peter Capaldi is taking over and doing it in his own accent,” said Antony Wainer of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society.
“We’ve obviously had Scots like Sylvester McCoy and David Tennant but Peter being himself is great.
“I’ve seen the first episode and everybody who was there loved it. Peter has been doing a world tour to promote it and he’s had standing ovations everywhere. People are going crazy for him.
“We’ve had younger Doctors recently that were quite loveable. Peter is mysterious and scary. There’s a real edge to him.”
The world tour is taking 56-year-old Capaldi to seven cities on five continents in 12 days.
And next Saturday the mega roadshow rolls into London’s Leicester Square where the stars and Paisley-born writer/producer Steven Moffat will be mobbed by fans at a screening.
It’s just one of scores of cinemas all across the UK, including many in Scotland, that will be showing the episode at the same time as it’s screened on BBC One. A Q&A for fans will follow.
David Cherry of the Glasgow Doctor Who Society says the city will be going Time Lord crazy.
“People will be dressed up as their favourite monster or Doctor for the night,” said David.
“Fans in Scotland went mad when he was announced. Having someone who has been a lifelong fan and even knows which monsters he wants brought back is brilliant.”
Capaldi says it was Tennant who told him of the madness that was to ensue when he took the role.
“David took me for a coffee before it was announced and pointed out that my life would change,” he said.
