No age rage for TV beauty Jenni Falconer

Scots TV presenter Jenni Falconer has slammed talk of telly ageism against women.

The This Morning and National Lottery star reckons a golden generation of older females are leading the way in broadcasting.

Her claims come despite Countryfile presenter Miriam O’Reilly winning a landmark ageism case against the BBC in 2011.

“I think there’s too much made of it and TV’s a much fairer place these days,” Jenni, 38, told The Sunday Post.

“There was a time when people were saying women didn’t get any work when they reached a certain age. How wrong they were.

“Lorraine Kelly is one of the biggest stars on TV, Fiona Bruce is doing brilliantly. There’s Gaby Roslin going from strength to strength, Kate Garraway on all the time, Carol Vorderman, I could go on and on.

“There are no limitations for women. There are mums and women who are all shapes and sizes. The fact women in their 50s and beyond are getting work is so reassuring for me.”

Remarkably, Jenni is marking two decades on the box, since making her first appearance as a contestant on Blind Date back in 1994.

Her latest project is a This Morning series called Weight Loss Wedding, which runs on alternate Wednesdays on ITV’s This Morning with three brides’ new looks being revealed on July 9.
