Tomorrow sees the launch of a new STV channel, featuring a mix of new and archive programming.
STV Glasgow launches at 6.30pm on Monday, live from the channel’s Pacific Quay HQ with The Riverside Show, a daily magazine programme on air for two hours every weekday.
The topical show will be presented by former Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch, radio DJ David Farrell, weather presenter Storm Huntley and roving reporter Colin Stone, who will present from locations around Glasgow.
Airing from noon until midnight, channel editor Paul Hughes is excited about Scotland’s newest channel.
He said: “The schedule includes a mix of live daily magazine programming, alongside new, acquired shows and popular classics from the STV archive. The channel aims to reflect everything that’s happening in Glasgow on a daily basis.”
Classic episodes of Taggart will be re-run, as will the entire series of Take the High Road, which is on daily from Tuesday. STV has also acquired a subtitled Polish drama, Czas Honoru, which will air weekly from Wednesday.
STV Glasgow will broadcast to two million viewers in the west of Scotland on Freeview channel 23, Sky channel 117 and Virgin channel 159. Freeview viewers will have to retune their televisions to pick up the signal ahead of the channel’s launch.
The new channel will also provide a platform for those looking to enjoy a career in media, as STV Glasgow will be delivered in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University, offering students the opportunity to work in a live television environment.
STV Edinburgh will launch later in the year.
