I’m not a big fan of Susanna Reid, the presenter of Good Morning Britain she’s a bit too self-regarding I reckon.
Since Strictly Come Dancing I think it’s become all about her and the glamorous clothes she wears at film premieres or the BAFTAs.
But last week she got a lot of flak for her response to Tom Cruise when he was in London to promote his latest film Edge of Tomorrow.
As he stepped on to the red carpet, Susanna was there and Tom gave her a big hug which she clearly enjoyed and then agreed to pose for a “selfie” with her. She then shared it with her 214,000 Twitter followers.
So Susanna. The interview which followed was a bit flirty and embarrassing as she gushed all over him. But you have to ask yourself would you be any different with a celeb?
I’d like to think I’d be cool, calm and collected. But I’m kidding myself. If I got the chance to meet Robert de Niro, Robbie Williams or Barack Obama I think I’d be a bit overwhelmed.
I’d love a “selfie” with them but I know I wouldn’t be able to work the camera phone because my hand would be shaking too much. As a teenager I queued for hours to get the autograph of John Lennon when the Beatles visited Glasgow.
When they emerged from the theatre after their performance I was so overcome by their presence and starry quality I just stared, open mouthed and screamed. Definitely not cool. So Susanna, on this one I’m with you.
