THERE are few things more annoying than a car that won’t start.
That was the exact scenario that Colin Burnett found himself in so he called out the AA.
The AA man carried out several tests and gave Colin a print-out stating that his battery needed to be replaced.
Having recently spent £104 on the battery at his local Halfords store in Dundee, Colin went back there and showed them what the AA patrolman had given him.
Halfords carried out their own tests and told Colin that the Bosch tester they used showed that the battery was fine.
Colin protested but was told that only the test carried out with the Bosch tester could be used against the Halfords guarantee.
With that Colin headed home.
Next morning the battery was as flat as a pancake.
Feeling very cheesed off, Colin wrote to Raw Deal asking if we could take up the case for him. He told us that he had paid out £104 but had a battery with a guarantee not worth the paper it was written on.
We got in touch with Halfords and this was very quickly sorted out.
A spokesperson told us: “Our customer services team inform me that the store will be issuing a refund to Mr Burnett when he presents his proof of purchase and battery at his early convenience.”
A clearly delighted Colin said: “Thank you so much for all your help.
“I couldn’t believe it when Halfords told me the battery was working fine, when it so clearly wasn’t.”
