Clutha entertainers Esperanza were left shattered as a fun Glasgow Friday turned to horror.
The bar was packed with revellers enjoying the eight-piece ska band’s rousing late night performance when the police helicopter plunged into the famous Clydeside building.
The band’s distraught members were still in shock yesterday.
In an emotional statement released to fans on social networks yesterday, they said: “Waking up and realising that it is all definitely horribly real.”
They paid tribute to the emergency services and the Clutha’s regulars, adding: “Despite the situation everyone was so helpful and caring of each other.
“The police, ambulances, firefighters all did a stellar job and continue to do so today in extremely difficult conditions.”
The statement continued: “Our biggest concern is that everyone is found and can get the care and help they need.”
