Oor Wullie pulls the £10,000 Broons Bingo winning entry out of his bucket!
There’s not been a win like this since Granpa won the bowling club tombola. Catherine Halpin, from Clydebank, is the lucky winner of £10,000 as part of our Broons Bingo competition.
She scooped Maw Broons’ top prize in our draw which was held last week. Her name was drawn out of the hat by Auchenshoogle’s most famous resident, Oor Wullie, in a prize draw at The Sunday Post’s headquarters last week.
Catherine, a former paper factory worker, was the luckiest of nearly 14,000 entrants to our massive Broons Bingo competition, which ran throughout January.
She was delighted when we told her the news and so was her great-granddaughter, baby Olivia.
“I was at home with my husband and Olivia when I heard the news,” said the 71-year-old. “I think they were more excited than I was.
“It was a fantastic surprise and I still haven’t gotten used to it yet. We’ll probably do a bit of decorating with the money, but other than that we’ve not decided.
“Winning £10,000 is a big shock but I’m sure we’ll book a holiday abroad. I’m glad I entered the Broons Bingo!”
