A former Bond girl’s advice could lead to fewer frowns.
Jane Seymour and Jacqueline Bisset are in their 60s but you’d never know it.
Both actresses appeared on The Today Show on American TV last week and were quizzed about how they managed to ‘age gracefully’. Was it plastic surgery? Botox? Miracle creams?
Jane, 63, who was a Bond girl, said: “I made a choice to stay away from Botox and all those things because, as an actress, I need my wrinkles.
“If I smile, I look younger. Smiling is the answer. Everything lifts when you do that.”
So I’ve been grinning from ear to ear all week. Even when someone jumped the queue at the cash machine, did I scowl? Not I.
When a waiter brought me coffee instead of tea, did I frown at him? Not I.
When my husband got a bit tetchy about the bank statement, did I let a dark look cross my face? Certainly not.
I have been smiling like a sunbeam all week. Every so often I look in the mirror hoping for miracles. Maybe it takes longer.
According to Jacqueline Bisset: “If you want to look good, you’ve got to forgive everybody. It’s the best beauty treatment.”
So I’ve made a conscious effort this week to forgive bankers, ranting politicians, cold callers at dinner time, an annoying small boy in the supermarket, even my washing machine which mangled my best sweater.
Trust me, I’m almost saintly. But I still don’t look a bit like Jane or Jacqueline.
It’s back to ageing disgracefully I reckon.
