Roy Keane has told under-fire Ronny Deila to tough it out at Celtic and stick to his beliefs.
Keane was offered the Parkhead job back in the summer but turned down the opportunity to become Neil Lennon’s successor.
Certain of the conditions made to him by the Hoops powerbrokers were not to his liking and it’s understood Deila had to be part of his backroom staff.
Keane turned it down to stay with Republic of Ireland as Martin O’Neill’s assistant and also then took a job as Paul Lambert’s No.2 at Aston Villa.
Deila was then made Celtic boss but has struggled to find consistency and has been critical of the levels of fitness and professionalism within the squad.
When Keane was asked the role Celtic wanted Deila to have under him, he said: “I’m not going to get into that.
“But I wish Ronny well at Celtic, of course I do. It’s tough being a manager. I know how tough it is. But join the club. That’s the game, isn’t it?
“But you do what you think is right, do what you believe is the best way to football matches.”
