GERMAN supermarket chain Edeka have released a heartbreaking advert ahead of Christmas.
The short clip shows a lonely grandfather spending Christmas after Christmas away from his family.
He comes up with a plan, however, to bring his family together that will bring most viewers to tears.
Watch the advert below:
The heart-wrenching advert certainly rivals this year’s offering from John Lewis.
Their man on the moon ad, in partnership with Age UK, follows a similar theme of showing that nobody should be alone this Christmas.

The past couple of weeks have seen more retailers releasing their Christmas adverts.
Aldi’s raises a few smiles with a cheeky re-working of the John Lewis ad.

Meanwhile Sainsbury’s brought Mog to life in their festive advert.
The calamitous cat’s Christmas shenanigans are second only to the John Lewis ad in terms of YouTube views.
Budget supermarket Lidl enlisted the help of schoolkids for their School of Christmas advert.

And we love this from Kwik-Fit – it’s not strictly an advert but it has the festive feel-good factor!
