The EastEnders Suspects.
Peter Beale
Motive: His emotions were running high having heard his dad tell his twin sister that she was his favourite.
Alibi: Killing Lucy for that seems a bit of a drastic reaction but may have got high on his own drug supply and mistaken his kin for a federal agent in that grey trouser suit.
Jane Beale
Motive: None. But that aquamarine wedding dress shows her judgement is questionable in pressure situations.
Suspect behaviour? Refused to attend the funeral, provided an instant alibi for Lauren and gave Emma Summerhayes plenty of prickly glances.
Denise Fox
Motive: Was about to marry Ian Beale and most women would do anything to avoid that fate.
Suspect behaviour? Has taken to beating up old men in the time since, proving she can be callous.
Alibi: Was supposedly in Oxford with daughter Libby.
Jay Brown
Suspect behaviour? CCTV footage puts him on the same bus as Lucy on the night she died. Has also tampered with evidence; having burned beanie hat he was wearing on the bus and buried Lucy’s possessions.
Alibi: Claims he was with Ben Mitchell, planning to rob an off-licence.
Lee Carter
Motive: Recently had a fling with Lucy, before finding out she was seeing Max Branning.
Alibi: Claims to have been at Roxy’s party.
Suspect behaviour? His alibi doesn’t chime with the fact that he also claims to have seen Lucy and Billy arguing.
Whitney Dean
Motive: Had fallen out with Lucy over her sleeping with Lee. Was being cyber-bullied by Lucy.
Suspect behaviour: Deleted info from her and Lucy’s social media pages.
Alibi: Said she had gone for a walk by herself hardly a watertight defence.
Max Branning
Motive: Lucy had just ended their secret affair.
Suspect behaviour: Another evidence destroyer, having cleaned Lucy’s blood from his office.
Alibi: Was with daughter Abi all evening apart from a five-minute spell where he was walking their dog, Tramp.
Ian Beale
Motive: Felt let down by his cocaine-snorting golden child.
Suspect behaviour? Were they tears of guilt he shed by the bucketload in the aftermath?
Alibi: Was involved with prostitute Rainie Cross on the night in question, which is not something you would willingly make up.
Also in the frame
Ben Mitchell (just released from prison for murder), Cindy Williams (Lucy’s jealous, trouble-causing half-sister), Lauren Branning (leaky alibi but unlikely), Les Coker (the undertaker may have been trying to drum up some business), Pam Coker (who was at home with husband Les watching a “Marlon Brando classic”), Abi Branning (recent spate of aggressive behaviour having attempted to drown her sister and killed her own dog), Dot Cotton (was her son Nick just another victim in her serial killing spree?)
