British number one Heather Watson will begin her grass-court season at the inaugural Aegon Open Nottingham in June.
Nottingham is staging two main-tour events as part of the expanded grass-court stretch, with Wimbledon now three weeks after the French Open instead of two.
The city hosted an ATP event between 1995 and 2008 but has not previously staged a WTA tournament.
Watson, ranked 43rd in the world, said: “I’m really looking forward to playing at the Aegon Open Nottingham in June.
“It’s brilliant that we’ve got a brand new women’s event in Britain in the run-up to Wimbledon and I’m excited to be part of its debut year.
“I love coming back to play on home soil every summer. The support from the home crowds for all of the British players is fantastic, which makes it extra special.”
The women’s tournament will take place from June 8-14 with the men’s event running from June 22-27, the week before Wimbledon.
The two Nottingham tournaments are in addition to the traditional grass-court events at Queen’s Club, Birmingham and Eastbourne.
