Some people just never seem to get any older.
Gwen Stefani. Morgan Freeman. Lorraine Kelly. What’s their secret? Nae idea Lorraine still hasn’t cracked under interrogation.
I had a chat with the lovely Kate Winslet last week and I reckon we can add her to the Seemingly Immortal List too.
Despite a busy filming career and having three weans to look after, Kate looks remarkably radiant she’s a true natural beauty.
And not only is she looking like the poster girl for the Fountain of Youth, but she’s making the rest of us feel that much older, simply by reaching 40.
Was it not only yesterday she appeared in Heavenly Creatures before shooting to super-stardom in Titanic?
Now she’s starring in the Divergent series, which is sort of like a sci-fi version of Twilight.
Kate’s the baddie in this movie, called Insurgent and she’s suitably dressed to kill too.
“Getting to wear nicer costumes is good!” she laughed. “When I did my last movie I was heavily pregnant so the costumes were about covering the bump.
“I had to hide it with an iPad or a clipboard! I spent most of the filming saying: ‘I’ll just hunch a bit in this shot…’
Kate kicks some serious bahookey in this film and I wondered how she coped following the birth of her third child a few months before filming began.
“I didn’t do as much as you’d think,” she said, sounding regretful.
“The digital guys are so clever. I did the beginnings and ends of action scenes. They film you doing those from every conceivable angle then feed it into a computer to make you look like you’re doing big fight scenes.
“It’s a shame, I had my strength back after giving birth and I was looking forward to a big fight sequence with Shailene Woodley!”
Last year Kate had a child with her husband, the quirkily-named Ned Rocknroll. The child is called Bear maybe Ned is a big Rangers man?
But when will Kate sit Bear down and tell him that mum is a BIG movie star?
“Oh, never!” she laughed. “He’ll figure it out! I hate the term movie star! My other children have figured it out. They respect and enjoy being on a film set and don’t run around wild. They want to learn.
“Hopefully I’m passing the work ethic on. Hopefully Baby Bear will learn some of that too.”
Ah, Baby Bear he’s going to LOVE that nickname when he’s a teenager.
Next week we’ll have more on my chat with Liz Hurley and I’m going to be visiting the James Bond set.
On that note, see you in 007 days!
