The Royals have asked for privacy as they return to their home in Norfolk while they get into a routine with baby Charlotte and wee George.
I don’t blame them for wanting to shield their children from the limelight, but bonny Prince George is the best asset the Royal Family have.
Every time we see his cute little face and his cheeky wave, their popularity soars.
He was adorable when he appeared in dad’s arms last week visiting the hospital to see his new baby sister.
He owes his good looks to his grandfather not Prince Charles, but Kate’s dad, Michael Middleton.
The 65-year-old is almost identical to his grandson, and the good news for George is grandad Michael still has a full head of hair unlike Charles, or dad William.
William, Kate, George and baby Charlotte are settling down as a family of four.
William is on a fortnight’s paternity leave from his job as an air ambulance helicopter pilot.
He’s obviously a very hands-on dad and I imagine he does his fair share of nappy-changing, and even although the couple have a nanny, we’re told they take care of their children as much as possible.
Now that Kate has done the obligatory photo on the hospital steps with her newborn daughter in her arms I hope she can chill out.
I was astounded at how incredibly well she looked, just a couple of hours after giving birth.
I know she had her hairdresser on speed dial and someone would have ironed her lovely frock, but I looked as though I’d been dragged backwards through every hedge in Scotland for weeks after my baby was born.
Kate should be having a relaxing day today, wearing elasticised waistband joggers, an oversized sweatshirt, with her hair in a scrunchie.
I’d like to think of them both casually taking their kids for a walk in the park, enjoying the simple things in life.
Even though they are a royal Prince and Princess, George and Charlotte will have a very unstuffy upbringing with lots of cuddles, love and happiness.
They should all just snuggle down and enjoy these precious early days with their kids.
It was a lovely to name Charlotte after her great-grandmother Elizabeth and the late Princess Diana.
It’s sad to think of how joyful Diana would have been to welcome a grand-daughter into her life.
With her frozen in time as a beautiful 36-year-old woman, it’s difficult to imagine her growing older and being a granny, but she would have thoroughly spoiled her grand-kids.
I also doesn’t think it’s very fair to criticise Kate’s mum Carole for spending so much time with her.
Of course she wants to be with her grandchildren, but she’ll want to help Kate and make sure George doesn’t feel left out by all of the attention lavished on the newborn, something parents know can happen.
So let’s just give them a bit of peace and quiet.
