All over Scotland brilliant fundraisers and volunteers are working hard to raise money for the annual STV appeal.
I am a trustee and the big live appeal show is the highlight of my year.
The appeal was launched in 2011 and aims to help children in Scotland who live in poverty, something that affects one in five Scottish kids.
So far more than £5.5 million pounds has been raised and every single penny goes to helping our children.
It’s scandalous that in this day and age there are little ones who don’t have enough food in their bellies and who desperately need our help, and the appeal really makes a difference to their lives.
There are lots of way to take part and help this year.
Schoolchildren are organising sports days and all sorts of imaginative fund raising events.
For the second year Cycling Scotland will be supporting the appeal with the Pedal for Scotland event, the biggest bike ride in the country.
Lovely STV weatherman Sean Batty and his border terrier Jock the Dog are doing a “highland fling” which includes climbing Ben Nevis.
This year, I will be joining forces with fellow Zumba enthusiasts for a gruelling 24-hour challenge where I will be visiting as many classes who are taking part as possible.
I will be with my Zumba instructor Maxine jones who is full of energy and enthusiasm and will keep us all going during the whole 24 hours.
Tom Hunter and his foundation will double any money raised up to £100,000.
The “Shimmy across Scotland” will be happening next month and will be great fun as well as being a terrific way to raise money for our kids.
If your Zumba, dance or exercise class wants to help contact ami.anderson@stv.tvI am always humbled by the way people in Scotland dig deep and contribute.
Thanks in advance for your support.
