IT’S officially Christmas when the John Lewis advert hits our televisions, and this year it is sure to make you cry.
This year’s advert, titled ‘Man On The Moon’, encourages us all to show someone they are loved this Christmas.
It tells the story of a magical and unexpected connection between a little girl and a Man who lives on the Moon. This sweet story demonstrates the power of thoughtfulness at Christmas. For many it’s a time of great joy, but it is also a time when some might find themselves alone.
The retail giant has teamed up with Age UK to help raise awareness of the heart-breaking reality for millions of older people who are lonely, many of whom can go a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member. This is an issue close to our hearts, as many of them can go a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member.

A John Lewis spokesperson said: “Our Christmas advert is once again all about going the extra mile to give someone the perfect gift”.
“We hope it inspires people to find really special gifts for their loved ones and through our partnership with Age UK, raises awareness of the issue of loneliness amongst older people and encourages others to support in any way they can”.
