Ross King: Fabulous Fleur East shows that The X Factor’s still got it

Post Thumbnail

YOU probably know that I recently got married.

And it goes without saying that I love the new Mrs King, Brianna, very much.

But I’m afraid that doesn’t stop me from being just a little bit smitten with a woman I met recently.

Fleur East, who came second in last year’s X Factor, was simply great.

Being based in Lala land, I have to confess I missed her X Factor “journey” last year.

So she was a bit of an unknown quantity.

But she was so lovely.

As anyone who saw her fantastic performance on The X Factor a few weeks ago will know, she’s a total bundle of energy.

And that voice. It’s fantastic.

She’s got the whole package.

Can she hold a tune?

Check.

Can she strut her stuff?

Check.

Does she look fabulous?

Check. (This one is, of course, purely my professional opinion.)

So it isn’t surprising that her debut single, Sax, has been a huge hit.

She was really friendly and fun when I met her.

What I really liked about her is that her success is a bit of a family affair.

Sister Kesha who is equally stunning is a make-up artist and she was on set when Fleur shot her video, making sure her big sis looked the part.

Fleur’s boyfriend, Marcel, is also in the mix, helping with her outfits.

I said to her it must be nice to have her sister with her, as it means they can go off and do bog-standard, normal, unstarry things like grab a cup of tea and she said that’s EXACTLY what they do when they get a spare moment.

We were in the studio on one of the hottest days the Valley has seen this year it was 115F.

Honestly, it was so hot I thought I might evaporate in front of her.

There was no glitz, no glamour, but she was utterly charming.

I know The X Factor isn’t as popular as it once was.

And people have a go that it doesn’t create global stars, that winners are quickly forgotten.

Well, maybe not all winners go on to have amazing careers.

But The X Factor still has a knack for producing amazing, big-selling stars.

Let’s not forget Leona Lewis, who won way back in 2006.

She really did become a worldwide superstar.

And what about One Direction?

OK, they came fourth but they went on to be the biggest band on the planet.

Simon Cowell can spot talent and in Fleur he’s surely got a huge star on his hands.

I can honestly see her becoming a big deal.

So, the final question has got to be does Fleur have The X Factor?
