Steven Seagal’s latest tour didn’t get off to the best of starts.
None of his band’s equipment made it to the first show in Slovakia, meaning they had a last-minute rush to hire their instruments and gear.
Hopefully there will be no such problems when the film star and his group travel from Istanbul to the UK for the next leg of their tour this month.
Best known for 1992 hit film, Under Siege, it’s only in recent years the 62-year-old’s musical talents have come to the fore. And you have to wonder how he finds the time.
As well as starring and producing in a string of action films, Seagal is also a reserve deputy sheriff, an entrepreneur, animals rights activist, environmentalist and father of seven. But he says it was music that came first.
He got his first guitar at 12 and has played the blues ever since, performing with greats such as BB King and Bo Diddley.
Speaking to The Sunday Post on his last visit to the UK, the four times married star explained: “I’ve been playing live for 35 years but only recently decided to tour the world.
“My mother died a few years ago. I was really close to her and her final wish was that I record some of my music. I love music more than movies, and I see myself recording many more albums and touring for the next 20 years.”
Seagal plays The Ferry in Glasgow on July 17 and The Sage in Gateshead the following evening.
