Ten questions for TV and stage star John Barrowman.
Stage or TV?
Aaargh. Too difficult. I usually don’t choose which way my career path goes. I go with the flow, otherwise you can be pigeonholed. I never know what’s next. If you’re making me choose then I’ll go for the Stage.
Oor Wullie or The Broons?
The Broons.
Traditional or modern panto?
I don’t like panto to be old-fashioned. I like it to move forward and try new things, otherwise there’s no point. It’s important to me that happens, so I tend to work with the same people, people I trust.
What’s more important good shoes or good hair straighteners?
Good hair straighteners.
Tell me something surprising about yourself.
I’m the worst speller in the world.
Andrew Lloyd Webber or Cole Porter?
Cole Porter.
Best moment in a recording studio?
I recorded You’ll Never Walk Alone which was a song my granddad sang to my mum, and she sang it to us as kids. I never met my granddad as he died before I was born, so it was an important link to our family’s past. My mum was in the studio and we both started crying. It took me about 10 takes to get through it.
Would you represent Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest?
No. In the climate we’re living in, it’s so political that whoever sings for the UK has no chance. The countries punish people they don’t like. I’ve been asked to sing before but I said no. Personally, I just wouldn’t get involved. I give kudos to whoever does it though.
Are you romantic?
No, I’m not very romantic I’m afraid.
You have 24 hours left to live. How do you spend the time?
I’d take a spaceship up in to space and bare my bottom to the world one last time. Then I’d sit down and have a meal of shellfish because I’m allergic and I haven’t eaten it for years. If I’m going to die, I might as well enjoy it one last time.
