Ninth time’s a charm for Amanda Holden.
Rumours of another big X Factor judging panel shake-up abound and Olly Murs and Caroline Flack are lined up as new hosts.
So Amanda Holden admits she’s just happy Simon Cowell has kept her on Britain’s Got Talent, which returned to ITV last night.
“It’s the best show on television and I’d be a fool not to do it,” she admits.
“I’m just glad to be asked because it’s not a given.
“Simon’s the king of reinvention and he’s perfectly entitled to change the judging panel but I need to be forewarned so I can change his mind!”
This is the ninth year for Amanda and she insists the current, stable line-up is her favourite. And David Walliams’ audience interaction and Cowell-baiting is a big part of that.
“I think David is second to none. He’s really good at saying something outrageous at the right moment.
“Or if there’s a ‘so what’ act that’s neither a yes or a no, he manages to change the dynamic around so the audience wake up and it’s funny.
“Seeing Simon and David is like watching a tennis match between Federer and Nadal.
“Simon normally wins because he has the edit in his hands and can make it all go away like the fairy godmother.”
The introduction of the Golden Buzzer, with each judge being able to send an act straight through to the live shows, has also spiced up the show.
“It has to be led by your heart and your tummy,” adds Amanda.
“For me it’s like falling in love for the first time you just know it. But I think David does it to be divisive and naughty.”
