There was double delight for Scots on the BBC’s revitalised talent show The Voice.
And the happy duo told The Sunday Post last night how auntie power helped them triumph.
Judo champ Max Murphy, 18, was secretly entered by his aunt, Michelle Logie, while Steven Alexander was inspired by his auntie, Maxine Jack, who starred on the show last year.
Bearsden lad Max didn’t even know Michelle had put him forward until two days before the preliminary auditions in Glasgow.
“It was a huge shock,” revealed Max. “But she’s always believed in me.” He was the under-17 UK champ at his weight and competed all over Europe with British Judo.
But, despite being full time, he’s putting it on the back burner. “I’ve got to give music a go now and see what happens,” he confided. “I’ll still have the judo but this is my number one priority.”
Meanwhile, Steven admitted Maxine helped drive him on. With pal Shelley Atkinson their Diva act reached the battle rounds last year.
“Ever since I was a kid she’s been encouraging me,” explained 27-year-old restaurant manager Steve.
