Emmerdale star’s tears of laughter during money-grabbing scene

Natalie Anderson is loving the light-hearted scenes on Emmerdale.

There’s a killer on the loose in Walford and murder set to darken Weatherfield.

But there’s some lightness in Emmerdale and Natalie Anderson is loving every minute.

She says that after all the drama her character Alicia has been through over the past year, the current storylines have been joyously funny.

This week sees Alicia and husband David (Matthew Wolfenden) stunned to be told by the solicitor that they have been left £70,000.

She keeps mum but the penny starts to drop that the cash has actually been left to sister Leyla (Roxy Shahidi).

Leyla’s attempts to get it back from the safe had Natalie in real-life hysterics.

“It’s such a funny scene,” she confides.

“Leyla’s in the house with a blowtorch and mask but the nicest outfit ever, heels and a jacket. And then she’s chasing up the road after Jacob with the money in these massive heels.”

And there was a river of tears of laughter for Natalie when son Jacob chucks the money into the water.

“It just became more and more hilarious,” chortles 32-year-old Natalie, struggling to compose herself as she recalls the events. Leyla pushes David into the river and I’m furious with her for doing that, so I push her in.

“The pair of them are floundering about in the water trying to pick up this 70 grand and put it on the bank. And I’m just there trying to take it off both of them and wafting it about. It was so funny.”

The sight of son Jacob, disgusted at the shenanigans is enough, finally, to make Alicia do the right thing.

There’s been plenty of “very testing” times for Alicia of late with Priya being ill and David having to be there for his ex.

“Alicia knows Priya’s ill but at the same time she knows she can be quite manipulative and she’s just that bit sceptical.

“She knows David is so nice that it can get him in a lot of trouble and feed Priya’s insecurities. But she’s trying to step back as much as she can.”

Former The Royal star, Natalie has been with Emmerdale for four years now and she says she’s having such a blast she’ll stay “for as long as they’ll have me.”

Bradford-born Natalie will be stepping out in real style at the British Soap Awards later this month.

She’s up unsurprisingly for Sexiest Female and will be taking to the red carpet in an outfit from the fashion label she’s now started with a pal.
