Actor Lee Mead has said he quit Casualty to see more of his daughter.
The star, 36, now in Holby City, told TV show This Morning that he wanted to spend more time with his seven-year-old daughter with ex-wife Denise Van Outen.
“I have my little girl Betsy and I was in Cardiff,” Mead said.
“I left Casualty, I wanted to see her more. Then they said, ‘do you want to come back in to Holby?’. And I thought, brilliant.
Mead resurrected the role of Ben “Lofty” Chiltern, which he played in fellow BBC One medical drama Casualty, in May.
“I have weekends off and I can come home every night. In terms of lifestyle, I can be home more. I feel really lucky,” he said.
Holby City is set in the same hospital as Casualty.
Mead shot to fame when he won BBC One’s singing contest Any Dream Will Do.
