WITH the clocks having gone back this morning, ever-darker and chillier nights are upon us.
But, for man’s best friend, it seems you’d be barking mad to fret about the arrival of winter.
While most of us can only think of the misery of frozen windscreens, snowbound paths and flooded roads, for dogs it’s their favourite time of year.
Many just adore getting wet one way or another.
And two new books have captured the love of being both damp and snowy in spectacularly fabulous photographic fashion.
Dogs love snow and we love seeing dogs in snow.
Whether they’re rolling around in the white stuff, burrowing tunnels into snowdrifts or playing with other canine chums, they’re never happier than when the snow comes down.
A new book from Scottish publishers Black & White takes full advantage of our love of dogs in snow with their new title, imaginatively called Dogs In Snow!
From wintry Westies to snow-covered St Bernards, the book has just about every breed of our four-legged friends and they’re all paw-deep in the white stuff. Dogs In Snow is out this Tuesday.
Meanwhile, soggy doggies are the focus of a new book, Wet Dog (Aurum Press £12.99), just out this month.
Top New York photographer Sophie Gamand started snapping images of damp dogs and found they took the internet by storm.
Her images even triumphed at the Sony World Photography Awards and the book deal for the studio-shot dripping hounds beckoned.
