Glasgow’s set to go radio ga ga next weekend.
It might be nearly two months until T in the Park but music lovers will be in for a treat at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
It’s Europe’s largest free music festival and all 50,000 tickets for Glasgow Green on Saturday and Sunday were snapped up in only 35 minutes.
The line-up subsequently announced makes those who got briefs certain they’re the lucky ones.
1D mania is sure to be rampant on the Saturday with Niall, Harry, Zayn, Louis and Liam taking to the stage.
But One Direction are just a part of a Who’s Who of the cream of the music business who are due to take to the stage over the weekend.
The other main stage acts on Saturday include Lily Allen and Ed Sheeran. And there’s sure to be a storming reception for Scots favourite Calvin Harris, who takes to the stage before headliners Coldplay.
The Sunday line-up has a local boy, too, in the shape of Paolo Nutini. He’ll be joined on the main stage by Kings of Leon, Tinie Tempah and Calvin’s other half Rita Ora. Rounding it all off in style will be Katy Perry.
Having first been in Dundee for the Big Weekend in 2006, DJ Jen Long is thrilled to be heading north of the border again in a bit more style.
“I was still a student in Cardiff at the time and I came up on a bargain £19 Megabus return via London that took forever,” explained Jen, who is hosting the BBC Three coverage with fellow Radio 1 DJ Greg James.
“I was trying to break into radio and I won a contest for best interview, which was really important. This time I’m coming direct by train!”
Jen hosts her radio show with Glaswegian Ally McCrae, so knows the city well.
“I love my nights out in Sauchiehall Street,” laughs Jen.
“The one act I can’t wait to see is Katy Perry and I know that if I get anything wrong interviewing 1D then Twitter will go crazy.”
It all kicks off on Friday evening with 14,000 packing in to George Square to see Radio 1 DJs joined by Tiesto and Martin Garrix for some party fun.
The Big Weekend is covered on Radio 1, BBC Three and via online and mobile.
