Greg Kane says being a new dad has given him a huge boost but he’s glad he’s not Rod Stewart!
The Hue and Cry star is being kept on his toes by two-year-old daughter Eva Rose. And he insists being a dad as he heads towards 50 is plenty late enough.
“I’m 48 now and having a kid at 46 was a big thing,” Greg told The Sunday Post.
“I see Rod Stewart at 70 and I think he’s got a five-year-old so I didn’t want to do that.”
But Greg, who’ll be taking to the stage with brother Pat at this July’s Rewind Scotland 80s Festival in Perth, says being a dad has fulfilled a long-held ambition.
“My partner Yvonne was a singer in an all-girl punk band and when she was trying to form a career we didn’t have an inclination of a family,” confides Greg. “But when she settled back down in Scotland, she said we should try.
“Yvonne and I have known each other for 15 years. We’ve fallen in and out of love and not seen each other for months when she’s been on tour.
“So the relationship is rock solid and having Eva Rose has revitalised me.”
Greg admits the duo’s success on ITV show Hit Me Baby One More Time a decade ago helped “put Hue and Cry back on a sure footing again”.
Rewind Scotland The 80s Festival is at Scone Palace from Friday July 24 to Sunday July 26. Details at www.rewindfestival.com.
