Azheimer’s Research UK has developed an app that simulates dementia, called A Walk Through Dementia.
The Android-exclusive app gives users a 360-degree video experience that shows how simple tasks can become extremely complex for people suffering from the disease.
Narrated by Olivier Award-winning actress Dame Harriet Walter and introduced by broadcaster Jon Snow, the app’s content aims to raise awareness of the disease’s symptoms beyond memory loss, using cutting edge virtual reality technology.
You can download the app from the Google Play Store for a video version. You can also purchase a Google Cardboard headset to experience the virtual reality software.
Dementia Research Centre at UCL and technology experts Visyon collaborated with Alzheimer’s Research UK to develop the app.
