Leona Lewis has knocked back suggestions that she has fallen out with Simon Cowell after being dropped by his music label.
The 2006 X Factor winner is the show’s most successful victor, amassing Leona a personal fortune of £13million, but recent album sales have been disappointing, with her festive album Christmas Love selling 100,000 compared to 3.1million for her debut album, Spirit.
It was announced on Friday that the 29-year-old had been shown the door from Cowell’s Syco wing of Sony Music, signing for Island Records instead, but Cowell took to Twitter to wish her well and speaking to The Sunday Post about her movie debut, Walking on Sunshine, Leona had similarly good things to say about her former mentor.
“I’m having dinner with him soon and will meet his new baby,” she said. “It’s really sweet and I think it [fatherhood] has changed him.
“I’m focusing on my music, I’ve been in the studio and coming up with some really exciting material and have got a lot to write about from what I’ve been going through in the past year.
“I’m not going to get weighed down by the pressure of people’s expectations and will let the music speak for itself.”
Walking on Sunshine is at cinemas from 27th June
