Florida shines brightest of all for opera star.

Opera duo Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli wowed millions on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012.

Jonathan famously refused to take Simon Cowell’s suggestion that he ditch Charlotte and perform solo.

The pair, both 19, had the last laugh when they went all the way to the final, finishing runners-up to animal act Ashleigh and Pudsey.

After a couple of big-selling albums and a nationwide tour, the pair decided to pursue individual projects while still remaining friends.

Jonathan’s debut solo release Tenore went straight to No.1 in the Official Classical Artist album chart on its release last month.

The material ranges from Verdi to Love Changes Everything from Aspects of Love.

“Picking my favourite holiday spot is easy Florida and Disney World in particular.

“It’s the one place my family and I have gone back to as long as I can remember. In fact, longer than I can remember as I’m told the first time we went there was when I was just two.

“The first time I can recall was when I was four.

“It was so memorable because I had my fourth birthday there at the Crystal Palace restaurant, tucking into little cupcakes.

“It’s always my mum, dad and my sister, also named Charlotte, who’s 26 now.

“It’s just one of those places you never tire of and I still get excited.

“We’ll be making our next trip honestly, they’ve become almost annual affairs in January.

“The funny thing is that, while it’s obviously a thrill ride fan’s dream, that definitely isn’t the reason for me going.

“In fact, I’m terrified of roller coasters and really don’t want to tackle them at all!

“The Everglades and some of the other big Florida attractions are also worth seeing. We’re trying to branch out to other places but that will always be my top choice.

“Another place that I’d love to get to see a bit more of is Arizona.

“I got to have a look round there when I was invited to perform earlier this year at the Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night.

“It was a charity night for Parkinson’s, so it was such a good cause.

“It was just a remarkable experience with people like Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro there.

“I get so nervous it’s lucky that when I’m on stage I can’t see the faces, it’s a bit of a blur with the lights!

“Like so many things in America, the sheer scale of everything just takes your breath away.

“When you’re driving along and you see these majestic mountains roll by it’s just marvellous.

“But I really have to see more of the UK. Doing the tour gave me a glimpse of so many places I’d like to holiday.

“That includes Glasgow. Charlotte has family there so she was able to give me an insider’s look when we were there.”
