The Tenors are looking forward to a warm reception as they prepare for their latest tour after performing in sub-zero temperatures.
After the coldest concert of their lives, The Tenors will have no trouble with Britain in March!
As Clifton Murray, one of the four brilliant singers, admits, performing in -30 chill in their native Canada puts our own winter into perspective.
Thankfully, when the lads played in their own country just before Christmas, it was for such a heartwarming cause that they didn’t even shiver.
“We performed as part of this year’s Canadian Pacific Holiday Train,” explains Clifton. “Believe me, it was cold! Thankfully, though, we used our voice training.
“You learn that when you play in those kind of temperatures, it’s best to breathe in through your nose, as using your mouth can freeze and tighten your vocal cords.
“So you wear a scarf, keep warm, and it’s OK. The Canadian Pacific has been going for 15 years, driving through stations right across Canada.
“The train makes 122 stops, picking up items such as tins of food, which goes to homeless people and families in need. They got seven million dollars in donations, six tons of non-perishables, and it’s an extraordinary contribution we are proud to be a part of. It is great to help your fellow man.
“Everyone was bone-chillingly cold, but when we sang Hallelujah at the end, with everyone waving lighters or their mobile phones, it was just great. So coming to tour the UK in March will not be a problem!”
If the group, confirmed favourites of our Royal Family, get another gig in warmer British conditions for instance, in the front room at William and Kate’s residence they’ll take that in their stride.
“It’s always awe-inspiring to meet the Queen, and to see the way she can go from very serious chat to talking music with us,” Clifton admits. “Mind you, she’s infinitely more intelligent than we are!
“Prince Philip is always joking that we are the Buckingham Palace House Band, and he says we are on ‘singing terms’. We haven’t heard from Prince William and Kate yet, but we want to stay on good terms with all the royals!”
UK audiences can see The Tenors on several dates, including March 5, Lichfield Garrick Theatre; 6th, St Albans Arena; 9th, Basingstone Anvil and 11th, Newcastle City Hall. See their website for more details, at www.tenorsmusic.com.
