THE dad of a youngster who threw knives at Simon Cowell has told The Sunday Post he worried the TV mogul had delivered his last cutting remark.
But despite his brush with death on Saturday night’s show, the Britain’s Got Talent boss voted 11-year-old schoolboy Edward Pinder through to the next round with his knife-throwing act.
Edward’s act initially involved throwing the lethal blades at mum Erika before Cowell was tempted to step in.
“When I saw Simon get up my first thought was, ‘Oh my God’,” said dad Eddy, who does a clown act in Pinder family circus, which began in Scotland.
“This is a multi-million pound star and my son is throwing knives at him.
“It was pretty scary and there’s definitely a moment you think about what just might happen.”
One knife was safely wide, the second flew perilously close to the judge’s face before bouncing off.
Although the youngster joined the circus when he was seven, he’s only started knife-throwing in the past 12 months.
“He’s really talented and is practising throwing other things like axes,” added Eddy.
“He’s even trying it blindfolded. I think he’d quite like to try that next time and he might fancy having a shot at David Walliams.”
The weird, the even weirder and the wonderful were rolled out for the second show.
Operadoo’s combination of opera and the didgeridoo and some saw-playing hit a bum note. But posh Lettice Rowbotham’s electric violin had all four judges on their feet.
And, following in the tradition of top foreign acts leaving audiences awestruck, 26-year-old Canadian magician Darcy Oake had the panel open-mouthed as he made birds, then a woman, appear from nowhere.
