Audi has revealed a range-topping trim level for its upcoming e-tron electric SUV – the Launch Edition.

With a price tag of £82,240, the Launch Edition brings bags of tech as standard specification, including a camera-based door mirror system, matrix LED headlights, Valcona leather and 21-inch alloy wheels.

To make the Launch Edition stand out, Audi has added a styling pack that sees the grille surround and window frames finished in black, along with rear privacy glass. Other equipment fitted for no extra cost includes a panoramic glass sunroof and illuminated door sill trims, along with a 360-degree camera, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

While the Launch Edition will join the regular line-up at the launch of the e-tron early next year, 30 UK customers will get the opportunity for an even more exclusive model – the Edition 1.

This limited-run specification will be offered on a first refusal basis to customers who have already placed a deposit for the electric SUV and brings even more equipment, namely a Bang & Olufsen sound system and four-zone climate control. The Edition 1 also gets an exclusive Antigua Blue metallic paint finish, orange brake callipers and a unique 21-inch alloy wheel design. Pricing hasn’t been revealed for this particular variant.

The Audi e-tron is capable of 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds and a 124mph top speed, thanks to 402bhp and 664Nm of torque from its electric powertrain, which sends power to all four wheels. The final range hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, but the firm is targeting ‘at least’ 248 miles between charges, with the car supporting 150kW fast-charging, allowing the battery to be taken from flat to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
