Huge crash caught on dash cam after Nissan makes late lane-change manoeuvre

Shocking footage has captured the moment a huge crash after one driver left it until the very last second to change lanes.

Said to have occurred on the I-94 in Indiana, USA, the dash cam recording shows a sign stating ‘LEFT LANE ENDS’. As the ending approaches, vehicles can be seen moving across to the middle lane — except for one Nissan Murano, which appears to have left its manoeuvre until the very last moment.

As the cones approach to signal the end of the lane, the Murano speeds up the inside of a HGV travelling down the middle lane — with the driver leaving themselves with nowhere to go. Chaos ensues, as the SUV is first squeezed into a concrete barrier.

The driver then appears to lose control of the vehicle as the road widens again, coming into contact with another barrier before heading straight back across the road — hitting the trailer of an unsuspecting lorry in the process. That final impact leaves the car in a wrecked state, with the airbags seen to be deployed.

Despite the scale and proximity of the incident, the driver in the recording vehicle appears to remain calm. He can be heard speaking on the phone saying in a relaxed tone: “Someone just got in a bad accident literally right in front of me”. The condition of those involved in the incident is not known.
