The tears flow as I’m A Celeb returns

The tears flow as I’m A Celeb returns

Terror, tears, totty and a dollop of thickness it can only mean I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here is back.

ITV’s blockbuster reality favourite blasts back onto screens tonight with US star Alfonso Ribeiro among the first to turn on the waterworks.

The 42-year-old actor, famous for The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, faced off with Steve Davis in the series’ first trial, Turntable of Terror.

The six-time world snooker champ faced up to a scorpion encounter in a glass coffin with the same coolness he showed on the green baize. But Alfonso was left visibly shaken by the trial.

“That was tougher than I thought,” he admitted to fellow campmates as he wiped tears from his eyes.

And TOWIE star Joey Essex came off worse than Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter in their respective sessions with lizards.

While 36-year-old Lucy, who plays Chas Dingle in the soap, was unfazed, Joey screeched: “It’s scratching the hell out of me, it’s biting me!”

The reality star played to type earlier.

As this year’s contestants headed to meet Ant and Dec for the first time, he stunned fellow celebs by saying: “I didn’t know we actually had to sleep in the jungle. I thought we got a cabin or something.”

Lucy, Steve, Joey and Alfonso had to make their jungle entrance with a skydive from a helicopter.

“That was the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” admitted Alfonso.

Meanwhile show bosses, keen to boost ratings with the usual sexy shower scenes, will have been encouraged by model Amy Willerton’s determination to turn on the girly glam.

The 21-year-old Miss Universe GB showed up for her stint in the wilderness in a tight pencil skirt and pink suede stilettoes. However, she eventually settled on the standard issue sturdy walking boots.

EastEnder Laila Morse, swimmer Rebecca Adlington, Westlife singer Kian Egan, designer David Emanuel and chat show host Matthew Wright are the others set to face the infamous Bushtucker Trials.

Ex-Corrie star Helen Flanagan, a spectacular flop in most of the trials last year, has been tipped to make an appearance during the run.

Tonight’s show sees the celebs split into two teams who then face a battle to win one last night of luxury.

The series starts at 9pm on ITV.
