No joy for John as Kylie and Co. keep their backs turned to The Voice hopeful John Rush.
There was agony and ecstasy on The Voice on Saturday night. Scot John Rush saw his dreams dashed as his version of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance failed to get any of the BBC talent show coaches to spin their chairs.
Despite the disappointment, John told The Sunday Post that he wasn’t giving up, and he reckons being seen by eight million viewers could be the boost his career needs.
“It was gutting,” admitted John, 30, from Paisley. “I think they were looking for a little bit more. I wasn’t that nervous until just before, then it really kicked in.”
John, who’s just quit his job working in cafes around Glasgow, was entered for the talent show by niece Emma.
“I’ve been singing ever since nursery and I don’t want to quit,” he added. “The Voice was a huge break and I’m just hoping being on it will help. There will come a point when I have to call it a day but I don’t want that to be now.”
Meanwhile, Vicky Jones told us of her delight at a shot at following in pop star brother Danny’s footsteps.
He’s the guitarist with McFly and Vicky found herself spoiled for choice with Kylie and Sir Tom Jones both turning.
“Danny didn’t know I was going to be on until I called him when I came off stage,” laughed 29-year-old Bolton girl Vicky. “He was thrilled but a bit miffed I hadn’t told him.”
The pair were in bands together and it was singer Vicky everyone thought would make it.
“He’s been brilliant and all the guys from the band are giving me their support,” says Vicky, who watched last night’s show with Danny. “It was hard choosing between Kylie and Sir Tom but I just thought he would be better for me.”
