Lewis Nelson, 20, will take over the lease of Whisky Mac’s Bar and Grill in Campbeltown on February 1 despite being younger than its top-shelf whisky, a Springbank 21.
The young licensee started working at the popular pub two years ago and is now delighted to be running it.
“I knew nothing about pubs when I started,” he said.
“My parents were worried at first, but now they are coming up with new ideas for the pub.”
He said he got a good deal from owners Steven and Mary Woods but still had to save up a five-figure sum to pay for the licence and has signed on for three years.
“It was easy to save money because I work 50 hours a week and there isn’t much to do in Campbeltown,” he said.
Lewis has already overhauled the menu to appeal to its younger crowd adding pulled pork burgers, Tex Mex, craft beer and a wide range of cocktails.
Britain’s youngest landlord ever was given his own pub for his 18th birthday.
Charlie Watts, 18, was placed in charge of The Cherry Tree in Yaxley, Suffolk, last year.
