Chastity Brown O2 Glasgow, Saturday
Rarely has an artist generated such a storm of acclaim as Tennessee-born singer and songwriter Chastity Brown, with her 2012 album Back-Road Highways, showcasing her earthy yet honeyed voice, passionate delivery and poetic lyrics.
Distilling elements of gospel, soul, jazz, blues and country, and likened by critics to a 21stCentury Nina Simone, she’s poised to release the follow-up this spring. Part of the Celtic Connections festival, which runs until February 1.

American Sniper At cinemas from Friday
From director Clint Eastwood comes this powerful film depicting four tours of duty in Iraq undertaken by highly-decorated US Navy Seal Chris Kyle.
Bradley Cooper plays Kyle, whose pinpoint accuracy with a rifle helps save countless lives of his comrades but also makes him a prime target for insurgents.
However, when he returns home for the final time, the husband and father of two finds that he cannot adjust to life without a war to concentrate on.

A recital including the works of Beethoven, Mozart and Stravinsky, the SCO really brings the works of these classical artists to life in this amazing show.
Dubbed a tale of four cities: Paris, Salzburg, Vienna and Hollywood, the performance features Stravinsky’s infectiously dancy Concerto in Re, sublime Mozart works Sinfonia Concertante and Symphony No 31 ‘Paris’, and the first concerto Beethoven ever wrote.
Music to the ears of all classical fans and a fantastic night of entertainment too.
The Lady and the Vamp Aberdeen Art Gallery, until the end of January
This display of extravagant Edwardian costume, alongside later outfits and striking portraits, explores the changing image of women and their dress before and after World War One.
It also features the first showing of a superb portrait by Aberdeen artist John Macdonald Aiken, and compares the attire and social expectations of women’s attire through the years.
