Why not try something out of the ordinary?

For some, the ideal holiday is lounging around in the sun with a book in one hand and a chilled cocktail in the other. But for others, action and adventure are the key to a relaxing break.

And if the latter is what works for you, why not give an activity-fuelled holiday at Raasay House a go?

It’s the perfect place to pull on a wetsuit, hard hat and harness and explore the Scottish countryside in a way you’ve never done before!

Raasay is one of the most beautiful islands in the Inner Hebrides. Tucked between the Isle of Skye to the west and the Scottish mainland to the east, it’s just 14 miles long and four miles wide.

And Raasay is the ideal natural playground for those who enjoy the outdoors.

Raasay House tailors activity holidays to suit, from rock climbing and kayaking on the loch or sea to coasteering where you basically swim, scramble, climb and jump around the stunning coastline.

All equipment and instruction are provided, leaving visitors to concentrate on the spectacular scenery and, of course, having fun!

Activity sessions are open to all abilities and ages and are a fantastic way to get close to marine and wildlife.

Coasteering will take you to play in some of the swell, gulches, waves and white water, and teach you how to use ropes and teamwork to get across a tidal causeway or traversing sea cliffs.

You can also sign up for a spot of traditional sailing, when you’ll hopefully catch a few fish, lobsters or even an octopus which can be cooked out on the water. Or try your hand at archery, hire bikes or go walking or on a minibus tour.

The elegant historic Raasay House is an idyllic place to dry off. There’s a choice of high quality accommodation to suit all budgets, from deluxe sea-facing hotel suites to hostel-style rooms.

Once the clan seat of the Macleods of Raasay, the house, which has a caf, bar and restaurant on site, is set in beautiful grounds, offering fabulous views out over the sea to the majestic Cuillin mountains of Skye.

So after a hard day of adventure, you can rest those weary muscles and wake up refreshed and ready to do it all again tomorrow!

Marketing manager Carol Anderson said: “We offer something completely different, especially for families. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all and try new things.”

n Activity breaks at Raasay House start from £199 for three nights, including activities, food and accommodation. Shorter and longer breaks are also available. Visit raasay-house.co.uk.
