Wedding bells for oor Ross leave a Broon feeling doon

The King finally has a queen!

ITV’s man in Los Angeles and Sunday Post columnist Ross King is set to tie the knot with fiance Brianna Deutsch in a hush-hush ceremony later today.

The details are being kept secret but The Sunday Post understands Take That’s Gary Barlow and Scottish screen hunk Gerard Butler will be guests of honour.

Several US-based British stars will also be at the glitzy bash.

But the surprise wedding has come as a shock to one resident…of Glebe Street.

Daphne Broon last week made a transatlantic dash to Ross’s Hollywood home to persuade him to marry her instead.

And The Sunday Post understands the entertainment reporter had to enlist the “help” of Paisley-born actor Butler.

This week’s Broons strip shows Daphne’s attempt to woo Ross back from Brianna and his attempts to deflect a desperate Daphne.

“I’ve had to apologise to Daphne,” said Ross.

“She’ll always have a special place in my heart and my dinner table.

“I told her my pal Gerry is looking to settle down. And that I’d save some of the buffet for her.”

Ross proposed to Brianna eight years ago but the couple decided to get hitched only last week.

He remained tight-lipped about the ceremony but a source told of Ross’s heartache after he found out his family in Scotland wouldn’t be able to attend the wedding.

“Ross is absolutely gutted his Scottish family can’t be there,” they said. “His mum suffers from Alzheimer’s and is too ill to travel so Ross’s sister Elaine has to stay at home looking after her.

“Sadly there’s no way his mum, Elaine, and her husband and children will be able to make it to Beverly Hills.

“They’ll be a big miss for Brianna and Ross as they’re an unbelievably close family.

“They’ve asked people not to get them presents, they’ve asked guests to make a donation to an Alzheimer’s charity instead.

“Ross is planning a big bash in Scotland with Brianna for all his Scottish family later in the year.”

The wedding will be held at a secret location.

“Ross wants to keep the location under wraps as it’s a small ceremony for close friends like Gary and Gerard, but it’ll be at one of Beverly Hills’ top hotels.”
