Simon Donnelly and Charlie Miller have joined forces to set up a soccer school, aimed at bringing young Celtic and Rangers fans together to emphasise there is no need for any divide across Glasgow.
Over the course of the mid-term school break, the former Old Firm players coached more than 300 children at Glasgow Green.
The added bonus for the participants was visits by the likes of Barry Ferguson, Callum McGregor, Scott McDonald and Marvin Andrews.
Former Hoops hero Donnelly said: “To see the kids enjoying themselves, getting exercise and learning about the game is rewarding.
“But it was also about raising awareness, being inclusive and accepting everyone.
“Whether you support Celtic or Rangers – or any other team – you respect that and get along.
“We actively encouraged the children to wear the jersey of the team they support – Celtic, Rangers, whoever. There shouldn’t be anything to hide.”
Former Rangers midfielder Miller added: “For Simon and I to do this together sends out a positive message.
“The parents have been brilliant, and it has helped that the kids have all mixed really well, and had lots of fun.
“Glasgow can be criticised too easily. If we can do our bit to show we are heading in the right direction, so much the better.
“It’s about teaching the next generation good habits, on and off the park.
“The feedback has been very positive and we will run more courses in July and August.”
