Only open in the summer, but you can step into history at Scotland’s only preserved gasworks, which worked for more than 130 years.

12. Walled Garden, Glasgow
The Victorian Walled Garden in Bellahouston Park is lovely. Then enjoy afternoon tea in House For An Art Lover, also in the park.
