Savvy shoppers will be able to pick up 50p Citizens Theatre tickets this Saturday 9 March at Tramway.
It’s the second time this year the Company have sold tickets for such a steal.
This time, the bargain tickets are for Nora: A Doll’s House, a bold adaptation of Ibsen’s classic text by Stef Smith.
Tickets will be available from 10am on Saturday, are available over 10 performances and can only be purchased in person at Tramway.
Nora: A Doll’s House is the first production in the Citizens Women season; a season committed to putting women actors, directors and stories centre stage. A poetic reimagining of the classic text by Henrik Ibsen, Stef Smith’s radical adaptation tells Nora’s story over three time periods: exploring the role of women from the turn of the century, through women’s suffrage and into modern times.
Directed by Elizabeth Freestone, she describes it as “a powerful rollercoaster charting the tumultuous events of three days in a deeply troubled household. Secrets are revealed, lives turned inside out and the wider ills of society exposed”.
With availability strictly limited, and the bargain ticket offer more popular than ever, customers are advised to join the queue at Tramway early to avoid disappointment.
Customers will be able to buy a maximum of two tickets per person which must be paid for in cash.
Almost 4,000 50p tickets have been sold since Dominic Hill revived the 50p ticket offer in his first season at the Citizens Theatre in 2012.
The offer honours the Citizens Theatre’s historic reputation for offering world-class theatre at affordable prices.
The Citizens also continues to offer affordable tickets for a wide range of groups to encourage engagement with theatre including £2 tickets with a Citizens Theatre Gorbals Card which is available to anyone with a G5 postcode, £2 tickets for the unemployed and £10 tickets for 16-24 year olds.
As well as at Saturday’s sale, tickets for Nora: A Doll’s House are available by calling the Citizens Theatre Box Office on 0141 429 0022 or by visiting citz.co.uk.
