AN animal welfare charity is seeking to rehome a dog said to bear an “uncanny theatrical resemblance” to William Shakespeare.
The Dogs Trust’s branch in Warwickshire claimed five-year-old Rocco’s distinctive fur collar was not dissimilar to the Elizabethan-era ruff often worn by the county’s most famous son.
In a statement appealing for a new home for the cross-breed, the charity said staff at its Kenilworth centre had nicknamed the stray The Woof in the Ruff while looking after him.
Sandra Foulds, the centre’s manager, said of the dog: “We’re hoping that if we put him in the spotlight someone will declare their everlasting love for him.
“He loves being the centre of attention and has boundless energy so will need an active home with lots of direction to ensure he becomes a true star he is destined to be.
“He could potentially share the stage with another four-legged friend as well as children.”
The trust can be contacted on 0300 303 0292.
