ABERDEEN have refused Rangers permission to open talks with Derek McInnes over the vacant post at Ibrox.
A statement on the club’s website said: “Aberdeen Football Club has announced this evening that Rangers have contacted the Club asking for permission to speak to Derek McInnes and that permission has been refused.”
McInnes has long been tipped as the favourite to take over at the Glasgow club as they enter a sixth week without a manager.
The former Rangers player lost back to back matches against his former club last week with interim boss Graeme Murty in the opposing dugout.
