Adventurer Ben Fogle has spoken of his battle with mental health.
Taking to social media, he wrote he had “learned to silence the inner voice”.
Last year he spoke of the “dark cloud” that was hanging over his head after climbing Mount Everest.
Fogle and Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton, along with mountaineer Kenton Cool, took on Everest to highlight environmental issues.
Pendleton withdrew from the ascent after suffering from oxygen deprivation.
Fogle, 45, said that after returning home in May he lost all motivation and felt guilty that Pendleton had developed depression after pulling out of the climb.
But on Instagram last week, posting a picture of him pulling a tyre on sand, Fogle wrote: “Life can sometimes feel a little like this. It’s full of ups and downs. We all have our struggles. Every single one of us. However much other people’s lives might look perfect from the outside, we all have those good days and bad days.
“It’s how we deal with them that sets us apart. I have learnt to control and harness my ‘lows’. Control the mind and you can do anything. It’s a simple case of mind over muscle. I am not the fastest, the fittest, nor the strongest but I have learned to silence the inner voice.”
